Stearns County commissioners on Aug. 12 approved a planning commission recommendation to issue an interim use permit (IUP) for a cannabis-related use and adopted a resolution to advance county state-aid highway construction funding. The board also approved its agenda and 12 consent items (one consent item, E3, was pulled for discussion before being approved).
The IUP (agenda item E3) was approved on a 3–1 roll-call vote after discussion about the IUP term length and local oversight. The board recorded votes from Commissioner Clark (aye), Commissioner Perske (aye), Commissioner Notch (aye) and Commissioner Bertram (no); the motion carried 3–1.
On a separate motion, the board adopted a resolution to advance county state-aid construction funding to help cover this year’s highway construction costs. Commissioner Notch moved to adopt the resolution and Commissioner Clark seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote.
The agenda and the consent agenda (minus the pulled item E3) were approved earlier in the meeting by voice vote. The board also recorded its approval of 12 consent items after pulling E3 for separate discussion.
