New jail construction on schedule; board to review options for old jail on Aug. 19
Summary

County Administrator Tom updated commissioners on the county—s jail construction and the schedule to present options for the existing (old) jail.
Tom reported that precast walls are installed in area A (southwest) and panels were set in the gym area; steel erection and shallow plumbing have started. He said work is "on schedule and on budget" for the new jail.
Regarding the old jail, Tom said staff will present finalized designs and cost estimates for three scenarios at the Aug. 19 board meeting: 1) full rehabilitation of the existing facility, 2) a partial rehabilitation with a partial tear-down, and 3) full demolition. He said the presentation will include high-level cost estimates but the board will likely need time to solicit public comment and deliberate before making a decision.
