The Fauquier County Planning Commission recommended the Board of Supervisors approve the 11th addition to the Cobbler Mountain Agricultural and Forestal District, covering three parcels totaling about 151 acres near J J Lane and Cobbler Mountain Road in Delaplane.
Cara Marshall, planning staff, told the commission the three parcels received a score of 79.3 out of 100 in the ranking components used for Agricultural and Forestal District additions, and that the Ag-Forest Committee unanimously recommended approval. Marshall said staff was available to answer questions; no public commenters spoke during the hearing on this item.
Commissioners moved and seconded a recommendation forwarding the application to the Board of Supervisors for approval. The motion carried with the commission recording the customary oral “aye” and no recorded opposition during the meeting.
The recommendation preserves about 151 acres under the county’s Agricultural and Forestal District program, which provides a local tool for recognizing and encouraging agricultural and forestry land uses. Staff did not note any requested site changes or conditions beyond the committee’s recommendation.
The Board of Supervisors will decide whether to approve the addition; the planning commission’s action was a recommendation only.
