Lake County commissioners approve election IGAs, disability-access MOU and coroner lease; consent agenda passed

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 19 approved multiple routine and contract items during its regular meeting, including intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) to conduct the 2025 coordinated election, a memorandum of understanding with Easterseals Colorado for a disability-access program, a three‑year lease for coroner’s office space at Saint Vincent Health’s Legacy Building and the meeting consent agenda.

Tracy Lorenzen (Clerk and Recorder) led discussion of the coordinated-election IGAs. The board approved an IGA with the Lake County School District and an IGA with Colorado Mountain College to conduct and administer the Nov. 4, 2025 coordinated election. The agreements outline each party’s responsibilities, statutory deadlines and cost‑sharing for administering the election.

The board also approved a memorandum of understanding between the county human services department and Easterseals Colorado to provide disability-access navigation support for residents seeking benefits and services; the program is grant-funded and will provide staff resources to help eligible individuals navigate application processes. The board’s approval authorizes the county to participate in the program per the MOU terms.

The board approved a three‑year lease with Saint Vincent Health for approximately 2,052 square feet in the basement of the Legacy Building to house the county coroner’s operations effective Sept. 1. County counsel said the space will require some build-out; the lease carries a rent rate of $1 per square foot, or approximately $2,000 per month, with no escalation for the initial three‑year term. The lease requires final approval by the Saint Vincent Health Board, per the presenter’s description of the process.

Motions to approve each item were made and seconded; the recorded responses in the meeting were “Aye” and “Aye” for each vote. The clerk’s record of roll-call names was not read into the public record during each vote at this meeting, so the meeting transcript records affirmative voice votes rather than an itemized roll-call tally. The board also approved the consent agenda, which included standard payroll and accounts-payable packets and other routine items listed on the agenda.

No item on the Aug. 19 agenda was tabled or failed; all discussed agreements presented for a vote were approved.
