Summary
PB Swims representatives told the Lake County commissioners they have raised $75,000 and identified up to $452,000 in combined local funds for upgrades to the Lake County Aquatic Center; commissioners asked staff to review the conservation trust fund balance and share RFP materials with local contractors.
Jane Harrelson, speaking for PB Swims, told the Lake County Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 19 that local donors have contributed $75,000 toward improvements at the Lake County Aquatic Center and that county-held conservation trust funds amounting to $130,000 are designated for the aquatic center.
Harrelson said sales tax receipts from January through June total $247,000 for the facility, bringing the pool of identified funds “up to, for the aquatic center, $452,000.” She told the board PB Swims will issue a request for proposals (RFP) for ADA and locker-room upgrades using procurement platform ByBoard and said she will share the RFP with the county so local contractors can see it.
Commissioner(s) and staff asked county staff (Candace) to check the conservation tax fund account and Harrelson said she would email particulars about the funds. The board did not take formal action on the aquatic-center funding during the meeting.
Harrelson said PB Swims is using the 2020 Lake County Aquatic Center facility audit prepared by Ascencia Architecture and updated by the school district as the basis for the RFP. She asked the county to expect the RFP and to coordinate with the school district and county on procurement and potential local contractor outreach.
The county’s next step was to review the conservation trust fund with Candace and for PB Swims to provide the RFP and fund particulars via email.
