House introduces multiple bills, refers resolutions to committee; meeting adjourns until Aug. 21

LANSING — At the Aug. 19, 2025, session the Michigan House of Representatives announced several new bill introductions and referred multiple resolutions to committee before adjourning until Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at noon.

The clerk announced bills to be printed and available electronically on Tuesday, Aug. 19, including House bills 4771 through 4773 and a series of additional introductions. Members introduced bills on subjects ranging from budget management and food law amendments to changes in the mental health code and public health code. Representative Fairbairn introduced House Bill 4774 to amend the management budget act; Representative Arbitt introduced House Bill 4775 to amend the food law; Representative Paquette introduced several bills (HB 4776, 4777, 4778) addressing mental health code, the Elliot-Larson Civil Rights Act, and the public health code; Representative Wenzel introduced HB 4779 to amend the public health code; and Representative Pablo offered HB 4780 to designate September as Michigan’s Day of Recovery.

On motions and resolutions, the House referred House Resolution 153, which reaffirms support for the 22nd Amendment establishing a two‑term presidential limit, to the committee on government operations. The chamber also referred House Resolution 154, urging Congress to uphold Medicaid patients’ provider choice by establishing a private right of action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (as referenced in the House reading) and asking the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to monitor state and federal actions affecting provider choice, to the committee on government operations.

The clerk announced several committee meeting notices and standing committee reports and the House adjourned until Aug. 21, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
