Carbondale discussion: town-hall electrification, pedestrian crossing construction and pool progress

Staff warned of a temporary detour and disruption while work proceeds and said the contractor has incentives and weekend/night work provisions to accelerate completion.

Pool renovation and schedule Board members heard that pool construction is progressing and that indoor work should be substantially complete by October; the pool will not reopen until next spring (Memorial Day weekend was cited as the target for next season). The renovation includes mechanical work and leak testing; members discussed questions about whether heat pumps will sustain year-round pool heating and noted winter operations (e.g., a continuously open hot tub) would depend on final mechanical specifications and budget.
