Wake County officials preview 50-year “1 Water” plan, call for public review in September

Wake County water officials presented an update on the Wake 1 Water plan on Aug. 18, saying the plan takes a 50-year, countywide approach to surface water, groundwater, stormwater and wastewater and will be released as a draft for public comment in September.
Nancy Daley, water resources program manager in Wake County Environmental Services, told the Board of Commissioners Growth and Economic Strength Committee that the plan seeks to align water strategies with the county’s Plan Wake growth framework and municipal partners to ensure water availability, water-treatment capacity and flood resilience as the county grows.
"This plan really highlights how water touches every part of our lives," Daley said. "We are very fortunate in Wake County ... but we can't take that for granted. It's not an unlimited resource."
