An application to facilitate the redevelopment and enlargement of Lenox Hill Hospital in Councilmember Keith Powers’s district was described during the Aug. 14 floor session. Speakers said the hospital, which has served the city since 1869, would modernize clinical spaces including 475 single-bed patient rooms, modernized operating rooms and creation of ambulance bays to support patient care.
Councilmember Powers told the chamber the modified proposal reflected years of community input and included changes to reduce maximum building height. Powers and other speakers said the project will include significant investments to the southbound entrance of the 70 Seventh Street subway station, including improvements for ADA accessibility.
The transcript shows the modernization application was listed for the floor vote; the provided excerpt does not include the outcome of that vote.
