Superintendent Dr. Lutz introduced John Sarris and Brandon Whitfield as the new co-principals of Baldwin High School and said the board would vote on the appointments later in the meeting.
“I'm very pleased tonight. We both we have mister John Sarris and mister Brandon Whitfield here. They have accepted the roles of co principals at Baldwin High School,” Dr. Lutz said, adding the board would vote “probably in about a half an hour.”
John Sarris, speaking first, called the relationship he and Whitfield have built “very special” and described their work together over four years. Sarris said, “We're excited to take over the high school, and more so to see where the high school can go.”
Brandon Whitfield, who said he has worked in the district for 26 years in various capacities, told the board he had “come full circle” and looked forward to serving with Sarris. Dr. Lutz said the administration will consider how to fill a fourth leadership position at the high school and noted Denise Wells will continue in a leadership role.
Why it matters: Leadership changes at the high school affect school management, scheduling and implementation of new initiatives the district described for the coming school year.
What’s next: Dr. Lutz said the board would take a formal vote on the appointments later in the meeting; the personnel consent items were approved as part of consent agenda votes that followed.
