Bountiful City Council unanimously approves appointments, purchases and interlocal agreements

Bountiful City Council on Aug. 12 ratified a series of administrative actions and contracts including the appointment of a new city treasurer, local consent for a grocery store to sell beer, two building systems replacements at the police facility, a utility vehicle for the cemetery and three interlocal dispatch agreements with neighboring cities.
The council voted to appoint Kevin McFadden as city treasurer after staff said McFadden ranked highest from a field of applicants and completed an interview and skills assessment process. Tyson Beck, city manager, recommended the hire and described the selection process as including written and Excel assessments. “Kevin is the best applicant and very well qualified for the position,” Beck said.
Other formal approvals included local consent for Sprouts to sell beer at its new store (applicant representative Erin Stone told the council an anticipated opening date of Sept. 26), ratification of an emergency replacement of a failing cooling tower at the police building ($101,680),…
