Commission approves county clerk's elections position, denies HR payroll position in 3-2 vote

Marilyn, identified in the meeting as the county's HR director, addressed the commission and urged approval, saying payroll support "is the highest priority for this additional support" and describing how the HR office is operating at capacity.
Commissioners debated options including approving one position now and considering the other midyear if funds become available. One commissioner said the group previously agreed to move forward with the county clerk's position and possibly consider the HR position midyear; another commissioner said they agreed if funds permitted. The motion to approve RFA 2025-115 (the budget-appeal action) as presented carried by a roll call of "Aye" and "Nay" comments that resulted in a 3-2 outcome.
