CareFlight reports steady EMS operations in Johnson County; average county response about 12 minutes

CareFlight briefed the Johnson County Commissioners Court on Aug. 11 about ambulance and air medical service activity and community outreach.
Brent Stovall, representing CareFlight, provided quarterly operational metrics. He reported that in the first quarter CareFlight responded to 3,389 requests and transported 2,102 patients, with a compliance rate of 97% and an average county response time of about 12 minutes and 17 seconds. In the second quarter staff reported roughly 3,234 responses and 2,019 transports, with a reported 98% compliance rate and an average response time near 12 minutes and 9 seconds.
Stovall said hospitals receiving the most transports were Texas Health Huguley (Burleson) and Texas Health Fort Worth, with Methodist Mansfield'—pursuing a higher trauma designation'seeing increasing transports as it expands capability. CareFlight reported 68 event standbys last quarter, three weather-related declines, and 24 aircraft patient transports in the most recent quarter (about 10 more than the prior quarter). Stovall noted that a surge in aircraft utilizes followed a month with 14 aircraft activations.
Commissioners and CareFlight staff discussed geographic hotspots for calls. Stovall said Alvarado and the Joshua area are among the busiest points in the county; he also noted frequent mutual-aid responses to facilities such as THR Burleson and that the service responds to transfers and assist requests from neighboring cities.
Community engagement: CareFlight said it has supported community events, school-supply drives, safety days, and will provide football-game standbys throughout the fall. Stovall said CareFlight offers CPR and first-aid training and is available to set up community outreach with medics.
Court response: Commissioner Bailey said county complaints about EMS service have decreased since CareFlight resumed county operations; the court expressed appreciation for CareFlight's local presence and outreach.
Ending: CareFlight will return for a quarterly update; Stovall told the court the next quarterly report will be in October.
