The Owensboro City Commission approved several board appointments and multiple personnel appointments during the meeting.
For board and civic appointments the commission approved: Barbersight Klites (Audubon Benton Harbor Area and Neighborhood Alliance) to a two-year term effective Aug. 15, 2025; Cindy Sheriff to a three-year term on the Senior Community Center of Daviess County Board effective Aug. 18, 2025; Wanda Cooper to a two-year term with the 7 Hills Neighborhood Alliance expiring Aug. 1, 2027; Nate Pagan to a two-year term on the Owensboro/Daviess County Board of Health expiring Aug. 3, 2027; and James Howard to a three-year term on the Owensboro sister cities and regional board expiring Aug. 2, 2028. The commission moved and approved the appointments by voice vote.
The commission also approved multiple personnel appointments across departments, including probationary and regular full-time appointments to the Owensboro Fire Department, promotions within the police department, and hires for public works and central dispatch. Appointments read into the record included (effective dates as read): Shane Croisher, Bradley Hamilton, Joseph Henry, Dakota Nickel and Matthew Wilkerson — probationary full-time firefighters effective Sept. 2; Logan Ramer — probationary firefighter effective Sept. 2 (contingent on completing post-offer preemployment requirements); Hunter Hinton — promotional appointment to lieutenant in the police department effective Aug. 10; Tristan Russellberg — promotional appointment to major in the police department effective Aug. 10; Jeffrey Johnson — refuse truck driver effective Aug. 10; Miranda Zunan — lead telecommunicator (promotional) effective Sept. 7; Dakota Bratcher and Jared Peacock — lieutenants in the fire department effective Aug. 11; Wyatt Griske and Brandon Pate — regular full-time firefighters effective Aug. 12; and Shelby Smith — telecommunicator in central dispatch effective Aug. 12.
City staff noted the upcoming Owensboro Fire Department Academy class and that one appointment (Logan Ramer) was contingent on successful completion of standard post-offer preemployment requirements such as testing and background or drug screens. The motions to approve both the board appointments and the personnel appointments carried with all voting in favor.
