The superintendent of the Huntsville School District reported strong community turnout for recent staff events and said the district will begin monthly rotating recognition for a student of the month, a certified employee of the month and a classified employee of the month across campuses.
The superintendent said the recognitions will “rotate among all of our campuses” and that the board would take photos of the honorees for publicity. He described a recent community event with more than 100 donated door prizes and several local businesses and banks providing support, saying, “we're in the right place” and that the atmosphere was “positive and energizing.”
Board discussion and administrative remarks placed the recognition program under the district’s special reports for upcoming meetings and noted the superintendent and directors plan to begin the program in September. The superintendent also thanked staff and volunteers by name and complimented the maintenance and administrative teams for work preparing campuses for the school year.
The superintendent described visits to campuses and praised staff energy ahead of the fall term. He also recounted a community lunch hosted at a local church and thanked volunteers and chamber staff who organized giveaways and refreshments.
