Clinton Police Department recognized for completing League risk review

The North Carolina League of Municipalities presented the Clinton Police Department with a recognition after the department completed a multi-area law enforcement risk management review covering more than 40 liability areas.
Joe Graziano, the North Carolina League of Municipalities’ senior public safety risk consultant, told the Clinton City Council that the Clinton Police Department has completed a comprehensive law enforcement risk management review and was being recognized for the accomplishment.
The review examined more than 40 high-liability areas, Graziano said, including pursuits, use of force, employment practices and training. He said the review involves an in-depth policy review, an on-site visit, facility and equipment inspections and interviews with staff. He told the council that roughly 200 agencies are pursuing the review and about 90 agencies have completed it.
The mayor and council members thanked department personnel and noted the police department’s partnership with the league. Council comments included praise for officers’ training and community service; the mayor said the city and its citizens are grateful for the department’s work and partnership.
No formal council action was required for the recognition. The presentation occurred during the meeting’s special appearance agenda item and concluded before the public hearings began.
