TWC approves $1.38 million supplemental RESEA funding to serve additional customers

The Texas Workforce Commission approved a supplemental distribution of reemployment services and eligibility assessment (RESEA) funds to boards experiencing increases in their RESEA profile pools.
Suzette Robinson of the Workforce Development Division told commissioners that TWC had received a RESEA performance outcome payment of $2,880,907 and that staff recommended distributing $1,382,513 to boards to serve additional RESEA customers and to cover local cost allocation or staff hires. “Staff recommends amending the board contract … to distribute $1,382,513 to boards for the provision of services to additional customers in their profile pool as described in the discussion paper,” Robinson said.
A commissioner moved to approve the described supplemental allocation; the motion was seconded and carried.
Why it matters: The U.S. Department of Labor requires a portion of outcome payments be used to serve additional RESEA customers; the supplemental funding will allow affected boards to provide services to newly identified jobseekers.
Next steps: Staff will amend board contracts for FY24–25 and distribute the supplemental RESEA funds to the named local workforce boards.
