TWC adopts FY26 SNAP and employment services allocations totaling about $39.3 million

The Texas Workforce Commission approved fiscal year 2026 supplemental allocations for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Employment Services (ES), adopting staff recommendations and moving funds to local workforce boards.
Chris Nelson, TWC chief financial officer, presented the allocations and noted the SNAP allocation totaled $11,883,508 (including a small board distribution of $30,515) and the employment services allocation totaled $27,439,218 (including a small-board distribution of $71,709). “This morning, you have before you the fiscal year 20 26 SNAP and employment service allocations in accordance with chapter 800 of the TWC rules regarding allocations,” Nelson said.
A commissioner moved to adopt the allocations as recommended; the motion was seconded and carried.
Why it matters: The allocations provide supplemental program funding to local workforce boards and determine how SNAP employment and training and employment services will be distributed for fiscal year 2026.
Next steps: Staff will implement the allocations under the TWC board contract amendments and notify affected local workforce boards of their supplemental allotments.
