Jonathan Blake of RGL Solutions gave commissioners an update on economic development work in Perry County and asked commissioners to review a monthly report and a strategic implementation document distributed at the meeting.
Blake said his team has been researching archival records and reviewing the county’s 2015 comprehensive plan to align recommended strategies with earlier planning work. He asked commissioners to review priorities identified in the report and provide feedback on whether items should be reprioritized.
Blake updated the commission on Project Falcon, a business-retention effort: a site selector and client are expected to visit the county, and RGL answered procedural questions regarding tax abatement and incentives previously offered by the redevelopment commission. Blake also said his team is assisting county officials with a capital-improvement/asset replacement plan to help the council budget for the coming year.
Commissioners asked Blake to locate an older source study—apparently in county files—that examined intersections (one referenced as involving routes 37 and 145) so his analysis can use any relevant background information. Blake said the county will receive monthly updates as the consultant completes research and implementation tasks.
The commission did not take formal action on Blake’s report; commissioners asked staff to provide feedback and return suggested changes to priorities to the consultant.
