Members of the Lake County E911 Authority said the board needs to begin its budget work soon and requested a preliminary budget presentation for an upcoming work session or regular meeting.
"Around October, November is when we start looking at finalizing things," the Chair said when asked about the timeline. Members said budget discussions should start in September so decisions can be made in October or November.
Staff and members flagged technical issues that may affect budget planning. A Member said the authority is still adjusting to a new CAD/CAS system and that differences between the new system and prior records could "skew a little bit of things." The Member also said the board no longer has the same access to eForce call logs as before: "We don't have the access that we did before in eforce with the b license."
Board members asked staff to gather comparative data from the new system and from existing sources and to bring a preliminary budget to the next work session or regular meeting. They emphasized starting the budget cycle earlier because the authority's fiscal calculations typically align with a July 1–June 30 cycle.
No formal action was taken; members set a direction for staff to prepare materials and to try to reconcile call-volume differences before final budget decisions are made.
