Lake County E911 Authority tables $19,040 Motorola MediaWorks renewal pending ownership and signature questions

The Lake County E911 Authority discussed but tabled approval of a $19,040 renewal with Motorola Solutions for MediaWorks software support after members raised questions about who is the contracting purchaser and who has authority to sign.

The amount due was $19,040, and the contract for MediaWorks software and support is set to expire Aug. 31, a staff member said. "This is a continuation of the contract... it expires on, August 31. So I'd like to get this approved and signed so we can continue that service with them," the Chair said.

Members noted the paperwork identifies Lake County as the purchaser rather than the E911 Authority, and they agreed to pause action until the ownership and transition are clarified. "Yes. Lake County. So I think I think we have to hold on this," the Chair said. The board directed staff to contact the county and legal counsel to determine whether the contract should transition to the E911 Authority and who has signing power.

Board members discussed options for resolving the timing: scheduling a special meeting to approve the renewal quickly or completing approval via email if legal allows. "We may do a special meeting on this just to to make a quick decision on this if we have to do this, like, within the next week or 2," the Chair said. A Member added, "I'm pretty sure we can do an email though." The board asked staff to confirm the process with legal and return with a recommendation.

No formal vote to approve the Motorola renewal was taken; the item was tabled pending clarification and possible expedited action via a special meeting or email authorization.
