Commission postpones public hearing for 298 S. Old Woodward to Aug. 25

The Birmingham City Commission voted July 28 to postpone a public hearing and related decisions on a special land-use amendment, final site plan and design review for 298 South Old Woodward to Aug. 25, 2025.
Planning Director Nick Dupuy told commissioners the applicant requested the postponement to allow additional time to review corporate-structure issues and the special land-use contract; Dupuy confirmed Aug. 25 was a date that should work for the applicant. "In this case, it's simply related to their corporate structure and the time they need to review the special land use permit contract," Dupuy said.
The permit request seeks to modify an existing required off-street loading facility to make room for new in-house laundry facilities and a trash compactor, according to the motion introduced at the meeting. After no public comment was offered in the council chamber or remotely, the commission closed the public hearing and adopted the resolution to postpone the application to the date certain of Aug. 25, 2025.
The motion to postpone was seconded and approved by roll call.
The matter will return to the commission on Aug. 25 for full public hearing and decision unless the applicant withdraws or otherwise amends the application before that date.
