Committee forwards off‑sale liquor‑license recommendation for Jumbo Trading on Jackson Street

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted 3-0 on July 24 to direct the clerk to prepare a resolution recommending that the Board of Supervisors find that issuance of a Type 21 off‑sale general beer, wine and distilled spirits license to Jumbo Trading LLC at 761 Jackson Street would serve the public convenience or necessity.
Officer Brandon Erickson of the SFPD ABC liaison unit presented the PCN report for Jumbo Trading Company, LLC and said there were zero letters of protest and zero letters of support, that the location is mapped as Plot 138 C (designated a high crime area) and in Census Tract 611.02 (designated a high concentration area). Central Station had no opposition and AOU recommended approval with conditions including active monitoring to prevent loitering, maintaining adjacent areas free of litter, and other standard neighborhood protections mapped on ABC form 257.
Supervisor Danny Sauter, whose district includes Chinatown, spoke in support and said the owner contributes to the neighborhood through the merchant group. There was no public comment on the item. The committee voted to forward a positive recommendation; Member Sauter, Vice Chair Blal Mahmood and Chair Matt Dorsey recorded aye votes and the clerk announced the motion passed with three ayes. The clerk will prepare and forward the resolution to the full Board of Supervisors.
