Jeffersontown resident publicly thanks fire and EMS for repeated assistance to his household

George Fortune, a longtime Jeffersontown resident, used public comment time to thank members of the Jeffersontown Fire Department and EMS for repeated assistance to his household over many years. Fortune said he and his late wife lived at 2415 Old Hickory Road for 49 years and described his wife’s multiple medical conditions and surgeries that required frequent help with mobility.
Fortune said the fire department and EMS responded several times to assist his wife with non–life-threatening lifts and to transport her and himself to the hospital on two occasions. He described the department’s personnel as “very professional, very knowledgeable, very compassionate, very caring,” and said he wanted to publicly thank them for their service. Council members recognized the comment and introduced a department chief to Fortune in the chamber.
