Evansville Climate Collaborative approves minutes, recommends two nominees to mayor and cancels Sept. meeting
Summary

At the start of the Aug. 19 meeting the Evansville Climate Collaborative voted to approve the minutes from its previous meeting; a motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Later in the meeting board members discussed a current vacancy on the Collaborative. Staff reported two recent applicants — identified in the discussion as Bryce (agricultural background) and Charlie Stockton (electric-vehicle/alternative-fuel background) — and said other earlier applicants either were unreachable or declined to commit. Board members agreed to forward both Bryce and Charlie Stockton as recommended nominees to the mayor so the mayor could make the final appointment.
The board also discussed scheduling and attendance and agreed to cancel the Sept. 16 meeting due to expected absences and to meet next on Oct. 21 at 3:30 p.m.
At the end of the meeting, a motion to adjourn was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Why it matters: Approving minutes and managing vacancies are routine board business; forwarding two recommended nominees keeps the mayor’s appointment option while giving the board’s informed recommendation.
Next steps: Staff will send the two recommendations to the mayor’s office and invite the nominees to the next meeting; staff will circulate meeting updates and follow up on the resident complaint and other action items.
