The Union Public Schools Board voted to approve capacity levels and the calculated open transfer capacity amounts recommended by staff so those openings may be posted on Oct. 1.
Staff said the district is processing about 987 transfer requests, with roughly 300 of those requests from children of Union employees. Distribution of transfers is relatively even across grade levels, with third grade the highest elementary grade (about 100 transfers) and 10th and 12th grades each showing 88 transfers at the secondary level.
Board members approved the capacity figures and directed staff to post availability on the district website. Staff indicated some students had already been placed into openings based on prior capacity approvals.
