Commission adopts Uinta Basin multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan update pending FEMA approval

She said the plan was prepared with stakeholders across three counties, has been approved by the State Division of Emergency Management, and is currently with FEMA awaiting federal approval. Commissioners moved to accept Resolution 08-26-2025-R1 to adopt the hazard mitigation plan update with the condition “upon approval of FEMA.” The motion passed by voice vote with ayes.
The adoption makes the county’s updated mitigation strategies an official county position contingent on FEMA’s approval, which is required for certain federal mitigation funding and compliance.
