The committee heard from Kathy Parker of APC staff and Carol (Kara) Boyles, staff attorney for the City of Lafayette, who said the amendments respond to an increase in gas-station development in Lafayette and aim to better align those uses with long-term city development goals. “We believe that these amendments will help with the city's long term development goals, not just downtown, but throughout the entire community,” Boyles said.
Why it matters: committee members and city staff said the changes are intended to prevent clusters of stations, reduce neighborhood impacts, and make it easier to redevelop sites if a station closes.
