The Mobile City Council on Aug. 19 approved a set of consent resolutions, purchase orders and capital project transfers covering infrastructure, purchases and nuisance abatements.
Council members approved minutes from the Aug. 12 meeting and adopted the meeting agenda by voice vote. The council also granted three noise-ordinance waivers for outdoor events on Aug. 24 (Cathedral Square), Aug. 26 (Savannah Street) and Oct. 26 (Saint Anthony Street).
Key items approved included a CIP resolution (091065) to transfer funds from District 6 capital project CO422 (GRAMMA project GSTPM4918) for traffic signal upgrades on Airport Boulevard, and a set of resolutions that declared structures at multiple Seabreeze Road and Cresthaven Road addresses public nuisances and ordered them secured and abated (4828). The council also authorized an agreement with MCCI LLC for municipal archives document-management services (011066) and approved multiple contracts and purchase orders for safety equipment, roofing, landfill sampling, traffic cushions and other city needs.
Among purchase orders and contracts approved were: a purchase order to Trans Transportation Products of Texas for traffic cushions (081086); cloud-backup renewal with Carahsoft (081092); new flooring for the historic department with Mohawk Carpet Distribution (081099); subscription renewal with Savant Learning Systems for police virtual-training courses (081100); Microsoft SQL services renewal with SHI International (081101); two pickup-truck purchases from Stivers Ford (081102 and 081106); and replacement flooring at 2900 Dolphin Street with Target USA (081110). The council also approved a contract with Advanced Roofing Solutions for the Sanger Theater reroofing (211075) and Southern Earth Sciences for annual landfill sampling at Bates C and D and Hickory Street landfills (211077).
A resolution determining an appropriation to P.L. Wilson Detachment 447 (Marine Corps League) to serve a public purpose was approved (601113). Minutes show one recorded abstention: "Mister Runners, you're abstaining to 601085," indicating an abstention on item 601085; the transcript does not record an individual roll-call vote tally for most items, and the council used voice votes on many measures.
Several ordinance numbers (64043 and 64044) were introduced and, per council rules, will lay over one week for further consideration. Two land-use public hearings on rezoning at 4154 and 4164 Moffett Road (B-2 to I-1) and on a planned unit development modification at 685 Schillinger Road were opened and closed with no speakers; no final council action on those hearings was recorded at the meeting.
Where the transcript lists an item without further detail, the article notes the ordinance or resolution number and records details given at the meeting as "not specified."
