Dinwiddie board approves personnel list; district recognizes new assistant principals and staff

The Dinwiddie County School Board approved a personnel list that included multiple assignments and hires introduced at the meeting. During the recognitions portion of the agenda district leaders introduced three staff who were named in the personnel report.
Andrea Sims, a Dinwiddie County Public Schools employee since 2009 with a mathematics degree from Virginia State University and an administrative credential from William & Mary, was introduced and announced to become an assistant principal at the high school effective in January. Linwood Swan, currently an English teacher who is completing an educational leadership degree, will also transition to assistant principal at the high school once his degree is complete in the spring. Kevin Walker, a Dinwiddie alumnus and Virginia State University graduate with experience in grants, contracts and budget analysis (including work with Lockheed Martin and Virginia State University), was introduced as the coordinator of finance and grants for Dinwiddie County Public Schools.
The board approved the personnel list by roll call. The meeting also highlighted student representatives Jake Everett (12th grade) and Janice Green (11th grade) and recognized winners of a "first-time voter" sticker contest and other student achievements.
Staff and board members thanked families and supporters who attended the meeting; the board asked Human Resources to notify appointees and update records as part of implementation.
