Bethel Park Borough Council on Sept. 8 unanimously accepted the resignation of a zoning hearing board member, appointed two replacements and approved multiple ordinances, contracts and a grant application in a series of unanimous votes.
Council accepted the resignation of Steven Reagan from the zoning hearing board and then appointed Michael Gray to the board (term to expire Dec. 31, 2029) and Hannah Durza as an alternate (term to expire Dec. 31, 2028). The council approved the consent agenda, which included development and public-works contracts, and adopted two ordinances: one adding the Anatidae family (ducks, geese and swans) to the list of animals not permitted as household pets and another tightening prohibitions and enforcement for parking and storage of vehicles on public streets. The council also authorized filing a grant application with the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County to seek funds for a band shell at Millennium Park.
The consent agenda items approved included: approval of minutes from Aug. 11, 2025; a bond reduction request for the Bethel Trails residential development (request No. 4); award of the Elm Tree Park stormwater project to Jetjack Incorporated; a 2025 stormwater repair contract and a 2025 sanitary sewer repair contract, both to Roto-Rooter Services Company; and the 2025 road program contract to Pavement Technology Incorporated. All consent-agenda items were approved by roll call.
Council also approved the bills list, identified in the meeting as bill list 20250908. The motion to approve the bill list was stated as $4,545,771.46; a later roll-call restatement in the transcript garbled the figure as $4,000,545,771.46. The council recorded a unanimous vote approving the bill list.
Votes were recorded as 7-0 on each motion unless noted. Motions were made and seconded from among councilmembers present and were put to roll call by Assistant Manager Burns. No recorded votes were negative or abstentions.
The ordinances and the resolution will proceed according to usual municipal processes; the council recorded the formal adoptions and the authorizations to file for grant funds during the meeting. No council member requested tabling or further study for the items that passed at this session.
The meeting transcript shows no public speakers for the two ordinances during the public-hearing portion; the council moved forward with votes after the hearing was opened and no one came forward to speak.
Outcome details for each listed motion and vote are provided in the actions array below, with transcript evidence cited.
