The Gatlinburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted on a package of fiscal and land-use items during its meeting.
The board approved Ordinance No. 26 40, the annual appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2026. The ordinance passed on its second reading after a motion, second and an affirmative voice vote recorded as "aye." No roll-call tally or names were announced in the meeting record.
On a related matter, the board enacted first reading approval for Ordinance No. 26 41, an amendment to the Gatlinburg zoning ordinance (Ordinance No. 8 30) to reclassify Parcel 7 Group E of tax map 1261 (1456 Laurel Road). Planning staff told the board the parcel is about 4.01 acres, contains a single-family home and the reclassification is intended to permit the lot to be used as a tourist residency for overnight accommodations. Planning staff stated the proposal does not present a spot-zoning concern and the reading passed with an affirmative voice vote.
The board approved Resolution No. 10 29, adopting updated sections to the city's human-resources rules and regulations (dated in the resolution materials as 09/01/2025). City staff said those changes had been reviewed in prior workshops and at the budget presentation; the resolution passed on a voice vote.
Finally, the board took a first reading on Ordinance No. 26 42, the property tax-levy ordinance for fiscal 2025'26. City staff said the property tax rate will remain at 12.57 cents per $100 of assessed value. The item received a motion, a second and an affirmative voice vote on first reading.
