The artist plans to begin sculpting in October and requires a 50% deposit before starting.
Representatives said additional grants and donations are being pursued and that a meeting of the veterans fundraising group is scheduled the night after the council meeting. They said fundraising must proceed quickly to meet the artist’s timeline.
