Summary
The county approved a $504,585 supplement for the 146 in Hazelville project, accepted Inglewood Road and Farmstead Way into county inventory, approved new stop signs and set speed limits based on a speed study.
Hamilton County commissioners approved multiple highway-department items Aug. 25, including a $504,585 supplement to a consultant agreement, the acceptance of two streets into the county inventory, and traffic-control measures tied to new construction and temporary detour use.
The board approved Supplement No. 2 with BFNS related to the county's 146 in Hazelville project. Highway staff said the $504,585 supplement is largely for appraisal activities for the 146 in Hazelville work and includes changes made after public hearing feedback. The motion to approve the supplement carried unanimously.
Commissioners accepted two new streets into the county inventory: Inglewood Road (accepted initially for a 2,810-foot section, about 0.53 miles, from 230 Sixth Street south) and the adjacent Farmstead Way stub cul-de-sac (about 0.16 miles). The board approved two official traffic-control actions: install a northbound stop sign on Inglewood Road at 230 Sixth Street and an eastbound stop sign on Farmstead Way at Inglewood Road.
Highway staff also presented a speed recommendation based on a speed study. Farmstead Way, an 800-foot cul-de-sac, will be posted at 35 mph. Inglewood Road, which was being used temporarily as a detour route while nearby construction continues, had a speed study showing an 85th-percentile speed around 54 mph; staff recommended posting the road at 50 mph for now with a plan to reevaluate once adjacent construction and detours are complete. Staff emphasized the road is currently posted at 35 mph but observed that only about 10% of drivers were traveling at that posted speed in the study.
The board also approved disposal of four highway vehicles and several miscellaneous shop items and approved moving forward with supplemental work on additional Inglewood segments when construction is completed.
All highway items were presented by highway staff and approved in open session.
