Goldsboro Neck Road closure set for utility and culvert work; Easton community center front entrance to close during hospital construction

Talbot County staff told the council that Goldsboro Neck Road will be closed to through traffic between Villa Road and Glebe Road “beginning on or about April 18” for utility relocation, culvert replacement and road widening. County staff said the closure is expected to last approximately three months, with an estimated reopening on or about Nov. 17 if work is staged differently; a detour will route traffic through Mistletoe Drive. A map and updates will be posted at talbotcountymd.gov.

County officials also updated the council on progress toward a new medical center in northern Easton and related changes to the Easton Community Center’s access. County staff said the hospital project is “making great progress,” and that the community center’s main front entrance will be closed beginning Oct. 1 while contractors finish the hospital’s Route 50 entrance. Work on a rear entrance is nearly complete and will serve as the temporary main entrance for the community center; officials said there will be at least two interim access points (Hiner’s Lane and the newly constructed rear entrance) and later three full accesses when the hospital’s front entrance connects directly to the community center.

County staff cautioned that State Highway Administration rules limit work during the summer season: crews are allowed to work from Oct. 1 through Memorial Day, with a pause over summer months to avoid impeding peak-season traffic. Officials said the pause could extend the closure period if the work is not finished before Memorial Day, and pledged to keep the public informed. Ray Clark was identified at the meeting as the county’s on-site overseer for the Goldsboro Neck Road project.
