At the Aug. 20 meeting staff updated the council on several capital projects. The Veterans park project is reported to be slightly ahead of schedule: staff said roadway clearance and parking-area preparation are visible on site and the contractor has made progress on grading and site work.
Why it matters: Progress on Veterans park will affect park access, parking and when the town can program events at the riverfront park.
Separately, staff said the Isaac Walton bridge is under contract work and is expected to remain closed through October per contract allowances; staff indicated there is a chance it could open sooner but the contract permits closure until October. Staff also said daily gate/security and signage have been used to keep the public away from active work zones and noted occasional incidents of people entering closed areas.
Ending: Staff will continue to monitor construction progress and will notify the council if schedules change.
