Lakeville Police report Q2 staffing changes, training and crime trends to council

Police Chief Paulson told the Lakeville City Council on Aug. 4 that the Lakeville Police Department’s second-quarter report (April–June) reflected “transition” but also forward movement in staffing, training and community engagement.
The chief said four longtime officers retired in late June and early July — Administrative Commander Jim Panchikar, Operations Commander Bill Gurl, Professional Standards officer Jason Polinski, and Senior Sergeant Doyle Cockrell — accounting for about 120 years of combined service. Paulson said the department has filled many of those roles: three new lieutenants (Jeff Hanson, Thor Howe and Jeremy Loehrfeld) and four new sergeants (Lisonbee Schenk, Nick Jacobson, Sarah Erman and Casey King). He credited Human Resources Director Alyssa Frey and her staff for helping to facilitate the transitions.
