The City of Ojai Planning Commission voted July 16 to uphold a Community Development directordetermination that an orange metal bench placed in the downtown arcade in front of 210 East Ojai Avenue violates the arcade design guidelines and must be removed.
The case came before the commission as an appeal of the directordetermination. Maura Macaluso, principal planner for the City of Ojai, told commissioners the bench was installed without meeting the arcade design guidelines adopted by the City Council in 02/2008 and cited the municipal code provision used to support the directordetermination. "This is an appeal of a director determination upholding section 10.2.2005 of the OHAI municipal code that refers to any design guidelines or policies that have been adopted by the council or commission," Macaluso said.
