Council approves bills and moves into executive session on personnel matter

The Torrington City Council on Aug. 19 voted to approve the bills for Aug. 6–19, 2025. Senior Accounting Clerk Rhonda Estes filled in for Clerk-Treasurer Lynette Strecker, who was ill, and answered council questions about several line items, including a dishwasher disinfectant for the city daycare, monthly cable charges, and a repair to the building cooling tower.
After brief questions from councilors, Councilman Kelly moved to pay the bills as presented and Councilman Victorin seconded. The council approved the bills by voice vote.
Later in the meeting, the council moved from regular session into executive session to discuss a personnel matter. Councilman Deal made the motion to go into executive session for personnel and Councilman Victorin seconded; the council approved the motion by voice vote. No content of the executive session was disclosed in the public meeting minutes.
