The board voted to approve July financial reports, authorized declared surplus items, and approved a statutory waiver for library media staffing at Heritage Elementary School for the 2025–26 school year.
A district finance presenter reported bank and fund balances as of July 31: a bank balance of $16,329,923.61; general fund receipts of $1,550,643.51 for July; reported general fund balance of $7,701,603.11; building fund $7,256,105.57; bond fund $382,578; sinking fund $80,133.03; and activity fund $1,106,783.94. The presenter also reported utility variances from the prior July (electric down $11,047.12, gas up $37.16, water up $781.29) and said a transportation-area leak had been found and repaired.
The board approved surplus items from the Board Building and Palo Ponte Middle School (motion moved, seconded and approved). The board also moved to approve the statutory waiver (deregulation) application for a library media specialist at Heritage Elementary School for one year; trustees discussed a state board member's increased scrutiny of waiver applications and confirmed the district advertises positions and follows regular procedures before requesting waivers.
Votes on consent business items (minutes, encumbrances and contracts) were taken earlier on the agenda; motions to approve minutes and to approve scheduled encumbrances and contracts carried with affirmative votes recorded by trustees in the room.
Recorded motions at the meeting were moved and seconded and carried; board members recorded their votes in roll-call style (for example: “Dr. Everson — I; Mrs. Crawford — I; Mrs. Neiman — I” in the transcript). The motions passed as presented; specific amounts for the bond proposition were not part of these votes.
The board took no action at this meeting to change budget appropriations beyond routine approval of the monthly reports and encumbrances.
