Benbrook EDC approves prior minutes, reviews July finances and holds closed session on real property and economic development negotiations

Jessica James, director, reported, “For the month of July, the board did receive $210,331.77 for your portion of the sales tax revenue.” She said that brought calendar-year collections to $1,399,331.94 and that interest earned on the board’s accounts totaled $20,686.77. James also reported a franchise payment of $1,224.82 and a payment of $9,670.58 described as a refund or rebate of property tax paid earlier in the year. She summarized the month’s total revenue collections as $241,913.94, operating expenses as $44,637.38 and encumbered funds for July as $2,434,812.76. James stated the board’s reported total fund balance as of July 31, 2025, was $5,363,112.34.
Following the financial report, President Kent Williams announced the board would enter a closed executive session “pursuant to the provisions of the open meeting law, section 551 of the Texas Government Code, in accordance with the authority contained in section 551.072 deliberations regarding real property and section 551.087 deliberations regarding economic development negotiations.” The board met in executive session; upon reconvening at 7:48 p.m., Williams said there was no action necessary following the executive session and then adjourned the meeting.
