Members of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) presented a concept to remove an existing downtown kiosk next to the museum and install a decorative, illuminated three‑tier fountain. DDA representatives said the fountain design is preliminary, the DDA would pay for the installation, and they sought council support before advancing design work. Council discussion covered size (roughly 9 feet), water plumbing access and reuse of engraved purchaser bricks; board members proposed moving bricks to the museum approach.
Councilors also discussed downtown sidewalk work and pavement. The DDA said it will pursue repaving two downtown blocks in October and is evaluating pricing to repair curb and sidewalk segments (including curb, gutter and stamped concrete replacements). The council approved a motion to proceed with the first block work, with a roll call showing Paul Jenderski, Christine Newman, Kathy (Cathy) Harris, Darcy McSwain and Michael Nesbitt voting yes and Jennifer Rosser Nesbitt abstaining on the specific kiosk/fountain matter because of her DDA role. Council clarified the village will go out to bid when a contractor is selected and the council will have input on color and finish choices.
No formal appropriation was made that evening; the DDA representatives said they will fund the fountain and sidewalk work planning and would return with detailed designs and cost estimates.
