Lincoln County OKs Pinpoint Communications fiber permit, accepts $15,180.11 fee

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 18 authorized the chair to sign a right‑of‑way application from Pinpoint Communications for a large fiber‑installation project that runs south and east of North Platte.

Planning and public‑works staff described the application as extensive and noted it includes multiple pull boxes and junction (hand) holes. Jason Schultz, Lincoln County highway superintendent, told the board the application includes pull boxes and that on larger projects the county typically requires a performance bond; the application includes such a bond.

Commissioners asked if the project is part of a broader broadband expansion program; Schultz said he did not know but that he would check with the broadband office. The board noted the application package included a check from Pinpoint Communications in the amount of $15,180.11.

A commissioner moved to approve the application and to authorize the chair to sign on behalf of the board; the motion carried on roll call. The board recorded the permit fee and the county will sign the right‑of‑way paperwork to allow the fiber work to proceed.

The county clerk will retain the signed permit and fee. Staff said they will follow up with the broadband office about any connection with the state/region broadband program and will report back to commissioners if that inquiry identifies broader funding or routing details.

The application and its map were part of the meeting packet and are slated for the county file.
