The High Point Finance Committee on Aug. 14 approved a $9,496,575 contract with Breeze Enterprises Inc. to rebuild South Main Street in the Market District, converting overhead utilities to underground and replacing water, sewer and storm systems.
The project will cover South Main Street from the Russell Avenue intersection south to Grimes Avenue. Construction is scheduled to begin Nov. 5 after the fall furniture market and is set to pause so the street reopens for the spring 2026 market from April 11 through May. The city’s completion target is Oct. 2, 2026.
