Boyle County awards Parsons design‑build contract for Alamo Springs mountain‑bike park; court hears updates on parks projects

Separately during a long parks and recreation update, staff and Parks Director Tommy Burton briefed the court on an array of capital projects planned or under procurement: rehabilitation of three baseball/softball fields (RFP to go out, work expected to begin in mid‑October), a Millennium Park site‑furnishings and building repair project, playground surfacing replacement at Millennium Park, a utility vehicle and snow‑removal equipment purchase, and a multi‑year skate‑park planning effort. Staff said the skate‑park effort has an initial county contribution of about $400,000 and that two national skate‑park firms have provided example designs; the committee plans to put an RFP publicly for construction next year. County and city representatives are coordinating on many of the projects.
On process and schedule, staff told the court that some projects will be bid and constructed across fiscal years; skate‑park and mountain‑bike park schedules are likely to stretch into 2026 because contractors with concrete skate‑park and park‑building expertise are often booked a year in advance.
