Pickleball committee urges ad hoc group after El Cerrito project paused

Commissioners and staff did not take formal action on the request at the meeting. Commissioners acknowledged the public comment and discussed ad hoc committees as a useful tool for complex, multi‑stakeholder issues but did not vote to establish a committee during the session.
The matter was raised during the meeting’s public‑comment period and a number of commissioners said they had watched the council discussion that prompted the request; Commissioner Olsen said ad hoc committees had worked for other complex topics and encouraged staff to investigate similar options.
No formal timeline or membership was set at the meeting; petitioners said they wanted the committee formed quickly and were willing to help set it up.
