Germantown board approves beer permit for Wolf River Hospitality Group at Rio Lobo Cantina

Clerk Betty told the board staff had received the permit application, confirmed the restaurant is in the city's C-1 zoning district where on-premise beer consumption is permitted subject to beer-board approval, and that background checks of the applicants "discovered nothing to discredit the applicants." The board opened and closed a public hearing after no members of the public spoke.
Todd Peterson, director of operations for the applicant, said the restaurant's front-of-house staff "will take the ABC course, which is a 5 hour course." He said servers will use a phone app intended to ensure carding of customers and that the company has applied to the state for a liquor permit pending a certificate of occupancy. "We just need to get our certificate of occupancy to complete that task," Peterson said.
Alderman Sanders moved to approve the permit; Alderman Yulicki seconded. Alderman Tony Salvaggio said he would step down from the dais because "I'm in a contractual agreement with the applicant," and did not participate in the vote. The clerk called the roll and recorded yes votes from Aldermen Yulicki, Sanders and Hicks; Salvaggio was recorded as recused and Vice Mayor Mary Anne Gibson was absent. The permit was approved.
The board concluded the city's separate beer-board meeting after the vote and returned to the regular meeting.
