The City of Austin Board of Adjustment on Aug. 11, 2025 postponed two variance requests involving private boat docks on Lake Austin to the board’s Sept. 8 meeting, saying members needed more information about dredging, navigability and potential impacts on sight lines and public navigation.
The two agenda items, C1520250026 (1750 Channel Road) and C1520250027 (adjacent property), seek variances from a Land Development Code provision that generally limits docks to 30 feet from the shoreline (LDC 25-2-1176(A)(1)). The applicant’s presentation, given by John Victor for Aqua Permits, said the existing grandfathered docks extend roughly 37 feet and that the proposed docks would measure 37 feet 3 inches at their longest point.
