Board interviews of qualified candidates will occur in open meeting on Sept. 2, 2025, beginning at 5 p.m., with a swearing-in ceremony the same evening. The appointed member will serve until Dec. 31, 2026, and the seat will be on the ballot in November 2026.
Qualification requirement: The board memo cited state residency rules: applicants must have lived in Precinct 5 for at least one year immediately preceding Sept. 2, 2025.
Why it matters: Filling the seat will restore full membership on board committees and allow normal board business and committee assignments to resume. Board members asked about logistics and confirmed that interview questions will be provided to qualified candidates in advance on Aug. 29, 2025.
