The Kingsburg Downtown Business Improvement District Advisory Board voted Aug. 5 to create a three-member event subcommittee to plan the district’s annual holiday kickoff, naming Chairperson Carpenter as chair and appointing Julianne Williams and member Kyle (via email volunteer) to serve.
Carpenter said the subcommittee will produce a timeline and return recommended tasks and dates to the full board so members know what will be done and when. “I would like to create a subcommittee today…those people on the subcommittee could work together and create a timeline, bring it back to us,” Carpenter said.
Board members confirmed the subcommittee size was limited to three members under the board’s rules. At the meeting Carpenter identified volunteers (herself and Julianne Williams) and said she had received an email from Kyle expressing interest. A board member volunteered to chair and others confirmed membership; the motion to form the subcommittee and the nominated membership passed by voice vote.
Members discussed one related operational task — decorating downtown trees — and agreed volunteers familiar with the decorations would handle that separately from the subcommittee’s charge. Carpenter and the subcommittee will report back to the full board with a timeline and requests for additional volunteers or budget needs.
